Severin Films resurrects THE AMICUS COLLECTION (Review)

Amicus, "the studio that dripped blood", showcases three of its masterworks in this boxed set from Severin Films.  In ASYLUM, a young doctor must audition for his new job by determining which of five patients is actually his predecessor who went insane by listening to their stories, prompting five tales of terror adapted by Robert Bloch from his own short stories.  In AND NOW THE SCREAMING STARTS, the new virginal bride of Fengriffen becomes the victim of a family curse involving an eyeless phantom and a crawling severed hand.  In THE BEAST MUST DIE, a millionaire gathers a group of guests at his remote estate to hunt down the werewolf among them.  Peter Cushing, Herbert Lom, Stephanie Beacham, Ian Ogilvy, Charlotte Rampling, James Villiers, Britt Ekland, Calvin Lockhart, Madeleine Clark, Charles Gray, Anton Diffring, and Michael Gambon are among the stars.
