A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS' Gian Maria Volante plays Brad Fletcher, a mild-mannered New England schoolteacher who moves to Texas for his health.  He is taken hostage by wounded outlaw Bennet (Thomas Milian, DJANGO KILL).  Rather than letting him die, Fletcher nurses him back to health and ends up joining him in his efforts to get his gang back together.

Bounty Films has gotta DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK!

I have reviewed Bounty Film's Region 2 PAL DVD of the Soska Sisters' DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK streeting May 23rd.  When four quirky characters find a dead hooker in the trunk of their car, they decide to ditch the body, but they are being tracked by the killer.  So begins a surreal road-trip involving necrophilia, bestiality, disembowling, bloody headshots, knocked-out eyeballs, ripped limbs, chainsaws, a cowboy pimp, and God himself!

    Shout Factory's GIANT ROBOT ACTION PACK (reviewed)

     I have reviewed Shout Factory's GIANT ROBOT ACTION PACK double feature of the Full Moon productions ROBOT WARS and CRASH AND BURN for DVDBeaver.

    On June 14, Shout Factory will release the GIANT ROBOT ACTION PACK featuring a double bill of Full Moon Entertainment's ROBOT WARS (with Don Michael Paul, RE-ANIMATOR's Barbara Crampton, and Lisa Rinna) and CRASH AND BURN (with Paul Ganus, Megan Ward, and TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE PART II's Bill Moseley).  In CRASH AND BURN, powerful conglomerate Unicorn has engineered a global economic collapse in 2030 and have sent the murderous human-like robot Synthoid after any dissenters.  Directed by Charles Band.  In ROBOT WARS (a sequel to ROBOT JOX), a foreign dignitary hijacks mega-robot MRAS-2 to crush all opposition.  A pilot, engineer, and archaeologist must revive the  MEGA-1 robot to save the earth.

        FIGHTING MAD/MOVING VIOLATION from Shout Factory (2nd review)

        I've reviewed Shout Factory's ACTION-PACKED DOUBLE FEATURE of FIGHTING MAD/MOVING VIOLATION for DVDBeaver (review HERE).

        In Jonathan CAGED HEAT Demme's FIGHTING MAD, Peter Fonda plays a farmer who goes to war with corrupt land developers.  Lynn Lowry (SHIVERS) and Scott Glenn (SILENCE OF THE LAMBS) co-star.  In Charles S. Dubin's MOVING VIOLATION, drifter Eddie (Stephen McHattie, PONTYPOOL) and waitress Cam (Kay Lenz, BREEZY) witness a murder and are set up by the local sheriff (Lonny Chapman, THE REIVERS).  Previously available on DVD in unauthorized, inferior PD DVD editions, Shout Factory has brought both these Roger Corman features to DVD in new transfers with new extras!

        FIGHTING MAD/MOVING VIOLATION DVD specs:

        Intervision's SLEDGEHAMMER at the (DVD) Drive-In (2nd review)


        I've reviewed Intervision Pictures Corp./Severin Films' will special edition DVD of the eighties shot-on-video slasher SLEDGEHAMMER for DVD Drive-In (review HERE).  Directed by David A. Prior (FELONY) and starring his brother Ted Prior (KILLER WORKOUT), SLEDGEHAMMER follows a group of kids who have come to an isolated backwoods house partying and screwing.  Just throw in a killer with a novel weapon, a synth score, eighties hair and clothes, and you've got a slasher with a cult following rediscovered on DVD.  One of the early shot-on-video slashers produced to take advantage of the of the burgeoning video rental market, SLEDGEHAMMER makes its digital debut loaded with special features!
