A QUIET PLACE IN THE COUNTRY (Un Tranquillo Posto di Campagna). Artist Leonardo (Nero) is cracking up under the pressures of city life and wants to get away. Instead of the posh villa that his lover/art dealer Flavia (Redgrave) has found for him, Leonardo is strangely drawn to a crumbling old house once frequented by a promiscuous young countess who had her way with all of the men in the nearby village before she was mysteriously killed. The countess becomes an obsession for Leonardo, but when Flavia comes to stay, it appears that the countess' ghost does not care for living competition. Directed by Elio Petri (THE 10TH VICTIM).
