Prostitute Ai is looking to better her fortunes and gets tangled with crooked businessmen, the Yakuza, necrophiliacs, asphyxiation fetishists, dominatrices, and nutty celebrities in Ryû Murakami's film adaptation of his own controversial novel (Murakami is better known as the author of AUDITION, the source for Takashi Miike's acclaimed film). TOKYO DECADENCE received an NC-17 rating when it hit theaters in the states, and it hits Region 0 PAL DVD from ArrowDrome in its 112 minute version (the UK theatrical release was cut down to 89 minutes).
