Next up for Raro/eOne: DORIAN GRAY and ADUA

On April 26, 2011, Raro Video/eOne will release Region 0 NTSC DVDs of Massimo Dallamano's THE SECRET OF DORIAN GRAY (Il Dio Chiamato Dorian) and Antonio Pietrangeli's ADUA AND HER FRIENDS (Adua e le Compagne). Former cinematographer Massimo Dallamano (director of WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO SOLANGE?) directs THE DAMNED's Helmut Berger as Dorian Gray in this swinging sixties update of Oscar Wilde's novel. The film also stars Maria Rohm (VENUS IN FURS), Marie Liljedahl (EUGENIE - THE STORY OF HER JOURNEY INTO PERVERSION/DE SADE '70), Richard Todd (HOUSE OF THE LONG SHADOWS), and Herbert Lom (PHANTOM OF THE OPERA).

THE SECRET OF DORIAN GRAY DVD specs:
  • 16:9 anamorphic widescreen 1.66:1 transfer
  • English and Italian Dolby Digital 2.0 mono audio tracks
  • Optional English Subtitles
  • Interview with assistant director Maurizio Tanfani
  • Liner Notes Booklet

In Antonio Pietrangeli's ADUA AND HER FRIENDS, four prostitutes join forces when a new Italian law closes the bordellos (a piece of history also explored by Tinto Brass in a few of his films) and open a small trattoria.  Photographed by the great Armando Nanuzzi (Visconti's THE DAMNED), the film stars Marcello Mastroianni (LA DOLCE VITA), Simone Signoret (LES DIABOLIQUES), and Sandra Milo (8 1/2).

ADUA AND HER FRIENDS DVD Specs:
  • 16:9 anamorphic 1.66:1 widescreen transfer
  • Italian Dolby Digital 2.0 mono audio
  • Optional English subtitles
  • Introduction by Italian film historian Maurizio Poro
  • Restoration Documentary
  • "Girandola 1910" episode from the film Amori di Mezzo Secolo
  • A fully illustrated booklet including critical analysis of the film
