The directorial debut of Ivan Passer is a comic study of contrasts as a musician returns to the village of his birth as a guest soloist in a local amateur orchestra and reunites with his married schoolmate. As they both try to impress one another, they both become envious of one another's imperfect lifestyles as they perceive them.
