In the New Zealand drama FANTAIL, Tania believes she is Maori and embraces the culture despite her blond hair and blue eyes in contrast to the looks of her younger brother Pi who is falling under the influence of his criminal friends. She works the night shift at a convenience store and caring for her diabetic mother by day to save money to take her and her brother to Surfers Paradise to find their absent dad, but her attempt to be a hero may lead to tragedy in the manner of her favorite Maori children's tale.
