Arrow Video gets chills from CREEPSHOW 2 (review)

George A. Romero and Stephen King return - if only on paper - for CREEPSHOW 2 directed by DAWN OF THE DEAD cinematographer Michael Gornick.  In "Old Chief Woodenhead" a cigar store Indian comes to life to avenge his slaughtered shopkeepers.  In "The Raft", a quartet of celebrating high school grads is trapped in the middle of a remote like by a flesh-eating oil slick.  In "The Hitchhiker" a woman in a hurry runs down a hitchhiker who refuses to die no matter how many times she runs him over.

Eureka's Masters of Cinema goes 4K with THE OLD DARK HOUSE (review)

Fast on the heels of the success of FRANKENSTEIN, James Whale showcased Boris Karloff and future BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN star Ernest Thesiger along with starlet Gloria Stuart, Raymond Massey, and Charles Laughton, Lillian Bond, Eva Moore, and Melvyn Douglas in a blackly comic adaptation of the psychological novel "Benighted" about two sets of motorists lost in the Welsh countryside during a storm and forced to take shelter with a very eccentric family with plenty of dark secrets.

When a lonely housewife buys a strange jade vase at the Hungry Ghosts Festival, she becomes vulnerable to an evil sex demon.  Sensing that she is carrying the embryo of the demon after death, a Daoist priest puts protective amulets on her shrine.  Years later, the amulets are moved and the evil force targets the dead woman's extended family in this gory eighties Hong Kong horror produced by Lo Wei.
