When retired British nurse Joan Kirkhope (Greta Scacchi) discovers that her husband (John Waters) who was supposed to be on business in Spain has been found dead in the Queensland Outback, she heads down under to retrace his steps and literally runs into retired cop Jack Darby (Bryan Brown) and the two wind up getting involved in various mysteries as they try to discover what happened to her husband.
