During the German occupation of Czechoslovokia, a Jewish doctor marries her Aryan colleague in hopes of avoiding transport to the Terezin ghetto, but the world continues to fall apart around them in one of the earliest films about the Holocaust by Czech director and Terezin survivor Alfréd Radok.
