Transferred from the kiddie park into the fleshpot of Paris, naive cop Nestor does his duty raiding a hotel of prostitutes only to find himself booted from the force. Defending the honor of Irma La Douce, Nestor somehow winds up as her new pimp and wildy jealous of all of her clients. He cooks up a secret identity to become one of her clients but his attempt to kill off his other identity when she falls for him leads to a madcap finale. Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine star in Billy Wilder's comedy.
