When his long estranged father dies, graduate student Andy and his flighty boyfriend travel up to the Castkills only to discover that eccentric childhood friend Birch is not only inhabiting his father's cabin but has also been the man's caregiver for several years. Unable to believe Birch's stories of his father's transformation into a less angry and more open-minded person, Andy and his boyfriend begin to suspect a more unwholesome relationship between the two men.
