Future Czech New Wave film auteurs Vera Chytilová (DAISIES), Jaromil Jires (VALERIE AND HER WEEK OF WONDERS), Jirí Menzel (CLOSELY WATCHED TRAINS), Jan Němec (DIAMONDS OF THE NIGHT), and Evald Schorm (PRAGUE NIGHTS) each adapt a story by Bohumil Hrabal who brought out the titular PEARLS OF THE DEEP from the seemingly inconsequential conversations and verbal sparring of socially-marginalized characters.
