Vinegar Syndrome rubs A TOUCH OF GENIE (Review)

Vinegar Syndrome pairs up two efforts from lesser known New York-based adult filmmaker John Christopher.  In PUSSYCAT RANCH, Ma Belle decides the only way she can pay off her mortgage is to take her three daughters and rob a bank.  Unfortunately, the bank has already been robbed by Billy the Kid (Eric Edwards) who suggests they turn the farm into a brothel.  In HERE COMES THE BRIDE, nymphomaniac Rhonda wants to settle down and get married.  She abstains from sex with Tom who is courting her, but that does not mean she can't have fun with just about anyone else she finds.  Samantha Fox, Joey Silvera, Roger Caine, Arcadia Lake, and Molly Malone also star.

Before STARGATE and INDEPENDENCE DAY, German filmmaker Roland Emmerich comes this eighties era bid at Spielbergian wonder and fright.  After his father dies, Joey is bullied when he tells people he still talks to him on his toy phone.  Joey soon discovers that he has the ability to make objects move, animating his robot as well as a creepy ventriloquist's dummy that warns him that it is not his father he is talking to but something evil and powerful.  Also known as JOEY.

Bille August's Best Foreign Film Academy Award-winning PELLE THE CONQUEROR comes to Blu-ray in a thirtieth anniversary restoration.  Oscar-nominated Max Von Sydow plays Lasse, a Swedish widower who emigrates to Denmark with his young son Pelle in search of better prospects.  Taking work on the estate of a gentleman farmer, they face abuse from their Swedish superiors.  Lasse encourages his son to get an education, but the boy has big dreams of seeing  the rest of the world.

Mondo Macabro is persecuted by INQUISITION (review)

Paul Naschy makes his directorial debut with this brutal and compelling take on WITCHFINDER GENERAL and THE DEVILS.  As the plague sweeps through sixteenth century France, the inquisition follows to sweep the Earth clean of heretics and witches.  The head inquisitor Bernard de Fossey finds himself desiring Catherine, the daughter of a landowner, but she has given herself over to Satan in order to discover the identity of her lover's murderer and is willing to burn at the stake to wreak her vengeance.  Daniela Giordano, Julia Saly, Monica Randall, and Tony Isbert co-star.

The complete five seasons of the Quinn Martin hit THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO finds detectives Stone (Karl Malden) and Keller (Michael Douglas) solving cases in the Bay Area with a slew of guest stars and gritty capers.  Douglas left in the fifth season and was replaced by Richard Hatch.  All 120 episodes are contained in one set (previously issued with each season split into two volumes each).
