Cinema Libre is WET BEHIND THE EARS (review)

Fresh out of college, Samantha dreams of living in the big city with her best friend Vicky.  Putting all of her eggs into one basket, she interviews at an advertising firm belonging to a vague acquaintance of her father.  When she doesn't get the job because of her inexperience, she is forced to move back home and take a job in a friend's ice cream shop.  Mortified by having to serve her catty old school friends, she strikes up a friendship with a kid who was unpopular but is now an aspiring (read: unemployed) filmmaker.  Together they hit upon a shady scheme to solve their problems.

It's the role of a lifetime, and someone will literally kill to get it in the Canadian sleeper horror film CURTAINS.  Sadistic director Jonathan Stryker invites six actresses to his snowbound country house for a weekend of rigorous auditions that will push them to the limit.  One doesn't even make it here, but that spot is subsequently filled by the famous Samantha Sherwood who went into an asylum to research the role and was left there by the director.  There's also a sickle-wielding killer in a hag mask literally slashing the competition.  Samantha Eggar, John Vernon, Linda Thorson, Lynne Griffin, and Lesleh Donaldson star.
