Cinema Libre is WET BEHIND THE EARS (review)

Fresh out of college, Samantha dreams of living in the big city with her best friend Vicky.  Putting all of her eggs into one basket, she interviews at an advertising firm belonging to a vague acquaintance of her father.  When she doesn't get the job because of her inexperience, she is forced to move back home and take a job in a friend's ice cream shop.  Mortified by having to serve her catty old school friends, she strikes up a friendship with a kid who was unpopular but is now an aspiring (read: unemployed) filmmaker.  Together they hit upon a shady scheme to solve their problems.

Strand Releasing catches THE AMAZING CATFISH (review)

In Claudia-Sainte-Luce's award winning film, lonely grocery clerk Claudia winds up in the hospital with appendicitis.  She shares a room with single mother Martha and her disruptive family of four.  When she gets out of the hospital, Claudia finds herself invited by Martha into her home and throw into the thick of a family who are finding ways to cope with their mother's illness.  When things take a downward turn, will Claudia lose the only family she has ever known or will they need her more than ever?

It's CURTAINS for Synapse Films (review)

It's the role of a lifetime, and someone will literally kill to get it in the Canadian sleeper horror film CURTAINS.  Sadistic director Jonathan Stryker invites six actresses to his snowbound country house for a weekend of rigorous auditions that will push them to the limit.  One doesn't even make it here, but that spot is subsequently filled by the famous Samantha Sherwood who went into an asylum to research the role and was left there by the director.  There's also a sickle-wielding killer in a hag mask literally slashing the competition.  Samantha Eggar, John Vernon, Linda Thorson, Lynne Griffin, and Lesleh Donaldson star.

Revolver Entertainment hooks THE ADDICTED (review)

The Manor was the premiere clinic for drug addictions until a patient hung himself in 1987.  Since then there have been reports of paranormal activity and disappearances of those daring enough to spend the night in the abandoned clinic.  When would-be investigative reporter Nicola, her boyfriend, and their friends break into the hospital to capture evidence of the paranormal, they discover something even more horrifying and may never be able to leave.

Scream Factory takes a bite out of GINGER SNAPS (review)

GINGER SNAPS, the 2000 Canadian horror sleeper classic hits Blu-ray/DVD combo from Scream Factory with a host of extra features and high definition video and audio.  The close relationship of outcast Goth sisters Ginger and Bridget is disturbed one night when Ginger is attacked by a werewolf. Grindhouse Releasing unleashes a high definition CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST (review)

The Italian cannibal film that "goes all the way" makes its stateside Blu-ray debut in a stunning HD transfer: Ruggero Deodato's CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST.  Four ruthless American documentary filmmakers trek into the Amazon jungle in search of the cannibalistic "Tree People" and are never seen again.  Two years later, the film cans from their shoot turn up and an NYU anthropologist takes them back to New York to discover the fates of the missing filmmakers.  What he finds is more horrible than you can imagine.  "Don't look away.  These are men.  Men like you!"

Scream Factory takes a dip in LAKE PLACID (review)

Vinegar Syndrome goes ALL NIGHT LONG on a TAPESTRY OF PASSION (review)

John Holmes takes center stage (or close to it) in this Peekarama double feature.  In ALL NIGHT LONG, Holmes competes with Ric Lutze on an all night tour of seduction to win the "Golden Rod Mascot" award for best lover.  In TAPESTRY OF PASSION, private detective Johnny Wadd (Holmes) investigates a series of sex murders of men linked the the mysterious "Black Widow's Nest" and its femme fatale proprietress.  Leslie Bovee, Annette Haven, and John Leslie also star.

Scorpion Releasing fights SHAME (review)

When lawyer Asta Cardell's motorcycle breaks down in the outback, she discovers the dirty secrets of a small town where the local boys have been getting away with rape due to the influence and intimidation of their parents and the damage gossip does to the reputations of the victims.  When she convinces one of the victims to press charges, some people in the town will stop at nothing to silence them in this eighties Australian outback thriller.
